Question Pop ups

Most of the sites I come across use pop ups, although it would be annoying users for most of the time. However the publishers do earn money because most of the pop up pay rates are standard and high irrespective of the traffic. Had anyone tried pop ups before.

Popups that actually open completely new windows are really looked down upon today so I don't use these myself. However, ads that show in a "layer" within the existing webpage without actually opening a browser window can work well. People are even annoyed by these, but they can be effective in getting you traffic.

There are a few hybrid type ads like this like rollover ads that you see in the top right of webpages sometimes when it looks like the page rolls open from the top. We haven't tested these ouselves, but I'd be interested if anyone else has had success with them.

On an affiliate site that I run, we actually use a pop up. The owner of the product wanted me to give it a try so we did. It has generated sales. Although I can't say how many people it has annoyed, I can say that it has and is generating sales.

I don't use them. I have a popup blocker, so that tells you how much I "like" them myself. I wouldn't want to annoy people with popups.
