I can remain impartial to this question as I am not a use of adsense. However, I do own several blogs and I have been thinking of using adsense to bring in some extra money. Has anyone here got any tips on using adsense for me before I just dive right in. If there are any positives, and mostly negatives then I would like to know. Cheers.

One must be rather careful with Adsense, especially if you are selling your own services or products in the same website that you are using Adsense on.
The more Adsense ads on your site, the more likely there will be ads in direct competition with what you are offering. Because of this, Adsense is actually better with topic based blogs, which is why we see places like Hubspot and Suidoo popping up all over. The owner of the site makes tons from the Adsense ads run on the site, while everyone else makes a fraction of the revenue generated. Give that some thought for a moment, the next time you decide to blog on a revenue share website. |

I agree, adsense can be very tricky if you don't place the links or imagery ads in good places. Myself, i tend to model myself after those that have been successful. The model placement that G gives is ok but the idea is to constantly do your split testing to see what works good in a particular location.

Google adsense is good for mostly moderate and low traffic sites. In the website revenue field adsense is the king.
The only disadvantage I could think of is their TOS, which is little bit strict and weird. You would high probability of account being closed if you act against their TOS. |

I find that Adsense is very useful and if you are afraid of the competition you should be careful when posting your own ads on the same page.It brings relevant information on your site and it helps with visitors, plus it brings some income too.GO for it!

Very informative link that was posted by billmcintosh, thanks for sharing that with us. Hopefully, everyone will check that out.
Just to reiterate a little of what has been said. When you use Adsense on your site if you are selling products then you risk losing business to a Google Ad. However, depending on your niche even losing htat business still stands to put money in your pocket since they are clicking on the displayed advertisements. Also, with Adsense you really need to pay attention to the content and use of keywords and phrases on your site, so that you are displaying relevant ads that will be of interest to your clientele. You can always cancel the Adsense from your site so I don't see the problem with at least giving it a shot, especially, if you are not selling products. |

Well, Adsense is really strict in applying their TOS. You are encouraged to read and learn their rules carefully and do accordingly, otherwise you increase the chance to get your account suspended. If you sell products or service on your site and afraid of competitors' ads, you can always use ad filter which Adsense provide.
