There is no way I'll reach 10000 points but I know that I'll put all the skills Bill has taught me to get to the top.

One issue that I've seen is that some accounts get filtered out of Twitter search results. This means that if the Contest plugin cannot find the Tweet in a normal Twitter Search then it doesn't get counted.
Check the Twitter search & confirm that the Tweets you aren't getting credit for are in search results. If they are visible in search results then it's a bug & we need to get on it right away. Let me know what you find. |

Does this mean that we shouldn't mask the domain and use the exact message that the contest burner site has us tweet?
So far I haven't found any bugs and I like the action that the plugin is getting. I even had a friend test it in a mobile browser. Works great. I noticed that one contestant had his Twitter account suspended, but after looking at a cached paged of his site via Google, I could see why.

The reason why some accounts would get filtered out of the search would be that they are "protecting" their updates.
If you are social marketing you don't want to protect your updates. Twitter gets picked up nicely by the search engines. I'm right under a brand name in the search engines just for using keywords in one of my Twitter accounts.

I want to get as much info as I can for another blog post.
So for this particular contest, the plugin calculates points based on twitter search for username+url. Would a participant also get credit for directing someone to the site using the unique url assigned to them when they added their twitter username to generate the link? (i.e. com/c/twitterusername.) Or is that link something that can be used later on for an affiliate program?

I'll add one little clarification:
You get points for BOTH: 1 - the Tweet containing @contestburner or contestburner.com AND 2 - Each click on your personal contest link (for example: "http://www.contestburner.com/c/twitterusername") So if you Tweet with your contest URL without shortening it: you'll get the points for the Tweet plus the points for each unique click on your link. If you do shorten the contest URL & do not put @contestburner in your Tweet: You would NOT get points for the tweet, but you would get the points for each click on your link. Hope that clarifies it |
