How to get points

I'm sorry if this is basic stuff, but I'm new to this.

Does someone have to have a Twitter username in order to participate in a contest? If not, how do people get links without entering a Twitter username?

How do people get points for commenting?

I'm trying to test this out on my blog by using private pages, because I obviously don't want my readers seeing all this until I'm ready to actually hold the contest.

Any thoughts?

Technically you don't have to have a twitter account and username but the Contest Burner was built around the twitter username. Any name can be entered in that field and points will be tracked under that name. If the name used is not a twitter username, you really don't have a way to connect the username to person owning it.
Right now the Contest Burner is really designed to be use with a twitter username.

If you enable points for comments a new field will be added to the comment form for users to enter their twitter username when they post a comment.
