Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share a FREE program that I have been using to keep me from getting distracted while writing during my day. It used to be the hardest thing for me to do to crank out an article until completion without being drug into the other thousand projects I have running.

In comes this handy program called Dark Room:


Its a dedicated writing environment that turns your screen completely black leaving only the text you type. Not even the start or task menus to distract you!

Dark Room saves in .txt format which you can then copy paste into Word to spell check and such. Below is the download link and shortcut keys to use.

Keyboard Shortcuts

* File Menu
o Clear Document: Ctrl+N
o Open Document: Ctrl+O
o Save Document: Ctrl+S
o Quit: Ctrl+Q

* Edit Menu
o Undo: Ctrl+Z
o Redo: Ctrl+Y
o Cut: Ctrl+X
o Copy: Ctrl+C
o Paste: Ctrl+V
o Select All: Ctrl+A
o Find: Ctrl+F
o Find Next: F3
o Preferences: Ctrl+,

* View Menu
o Statistics: Ctrl+/
o Toggle Fullscreen: F11 or Esc

I really like this program. Thanks. I have also just found a program called Q10. This does the same thing, but has lots of other features. It does have a status bar at the bottom, but can be turned off. Also has a spell checker.

Ah very nice, thanks for posting that I'll have to check it out. That was the major gripe I had about this program was no spell check or word-count.

Yes both of them are very good. I think that I'm liking Q10 a bit better. It has many more features and much more customizable.
