Default Pronouncable .com names are the way to go.

How a domain slips off the tongue can be crucial for remembering the domain. .com's are the best of the end URL because of the popularity of high level domains that use it.

Shouldn't a pronouncable domain mean the most when picking a domain?

I spend a lot of time picking the right domain name for a "money" site. If the site is important and has any possibility of a long term project it's worth the effort.

I use programs like:

Domain Name Search Software and Link Popularity Checker Tool

To get a few hundred available domains. I try to keep them as short as possible. I weed them down to a dozen or so that are pronounceable, aren't easily misspelled (or I register the misspellings too) and are easy to remember.

Then I survey my staff & pick one of the top 3 for my project.

If the domain is short and can easily be pronounced then the domain can easily be branded and increases the value of the domain.

Yes, to be easily remembered, a domain name should be short and easy to say. How can people remember grngkdnt.com unless he is really interested to the content and bookmark it? I think we don't need to use keywords as a domain name, if it makes the name like a sentence LOL.

Choosing the correct and remembered domain name is the key for a successful site. I know a lot of good sites which didn't become much famous because of their unfriendly domain names.

Choosing the correct domain name would get you to 25% of having a successful site.
