Default Sub domain...

I know it is basic, but I really have no clear idea about it. If we will create a sub domain, which is better to choose between: "subdomain.yourname.com" and "yourname.com/subdomain". What makes the one different with the other? What is the effect? Thanks.

Generally I stay away from using subdomains unless it makes sense from a business perspective.

If you have a classified section & a forum on your site it might make sense to make:

forum.domain.com
&
classifieds.domain.com

However, if you're doing it for search engine reasons: I'd avoid this on any site that matters to you. If it's a money site don't do it.

If you are building a blog farm or some type of backlinking scheme that you don't care if some of your sites get deindexed then you can certainly us subdomains for these reasons. Just be aware that Google may not like this at some point in the future if they ever do a manual review of your site (Google does a lot a manual site reviews).

Wow, I never know about it before. Thanks for the advice. So it's not a good idea to make a sub domain. Well, suppose I start a free-ebook site and depend its income ad ads. I want to keep it regularly updated so it always has fresh content. What to do instead of creating a sub domain like blog.myname.com?

If you have a large site then sub domains can actually come in rather handy. If you have thousands of pages all on domain level then it can become very messy.
