As I am sure most of you already know how this works, but does anybody realize what this application brings to people's lives? It is so complex I wouldn't even know with what features to begin. You can keep up with your loved ones, upload photos and links important to you, read the news, market, find a job, learn new things, enrich your vocabulary and so on....
I would like some of the users' opinions on that matter if possible. Thanks |

I use Facebook and like it very much. One issue I have with it is that I am found by people I wish didn't know me. An occasional ex-girlfriend, psycho friends, and anonymous nuts should not find you so easily.
I used Facebook for my personal life, even though I add friends on it from work. I use LinkedIn for actual work and business contacts because it's much more professional. There are many social networking sites out there and Facebook is on the top of my list but twitter (micro blogging) is catching up - Artemis |

My husband has had good success with Facebook, he re-connected with many people he knew from school and college, friends from previous jobs, etc. He has made new friends as well and found some business contacts through FB, too.

Just last weekend I was contacted by a childhood friend using Facebook.
I hadn't heard from him in about 30 years. That's been the most profound experience I've had with Facebook, although I do keep in touch with some work colleagues with it, too.

Hey, I like reading your postings, artemis was very funny when mentioning psycho friends and ex-girlfriends who can find you, but this is a risk you have to take.

Facebook offers up some challenges if your intent is to use it as a business medium, but you have the option through your primary account to establish groups or interest pages where you can draw people who may be interested in your endeavor. For example many non-profits are using this to keep people informed of what is happening. Though Facebook is a social medium, it can be leveraged effectively to create a bit of buzz.

i spend my life on facebook. i promote my art shows on there, i link other social networking sites to it as well as my blog, so that when i update on a different site it shows up in the thread so my friends can see. i find elementary, high school and college friends and they find me. i link up with business contacts and stay in touch with them via facebook. i use it for everything. all the time.

I see many artists, writers, and aspiring actors posting info about their work on FB, too, and I'm sure it brings some valuable contacts. You have to keep stuff up to date though.

oh definitely. that's important with any social networking or your own website, blogging, anything you're promoting or selling really.

I love Facebook. Had it not been for Facebook I would not be talking to my long lost cousins who I grew up with! I (as does Drexel) also use it for both business & pleasure. It's a great social networking tool and if the people who are your friends are interested in whatever it is your site promotes, it's a great way to get the word out there!
