I have used for Ezinearticles, Goarticles and Article Dashboard for example. If you have a look at many of the leading SEO sites, they all tend to agree that article marketing for page rank purposes is somewhat of a waste of time.

Are there any "good" or "worth the monthly subscription" automated submission services for submitting your articles? or good automated submission services for directories?
I tried SubmitterBot for directories, but it seems the same company owns all of the directiories that SubmitterBot submits your site to?
How does Google view these, good or bad?
Or is it better to do all submissions manually for articles and for directories?

Anyone know if it's better for SEO to submit to 500-1000 article directories (which is going to generate more links, but many with some type of duplicate content), or should you just submit to say the top 10-20 article directories only? If so, what would be the 10-20 that you recommend?

I've heard of some article services using a macro to swap some of the content around, but not sure if it's worthwhile.

Keep in mind, "moderation". Google algorithms hate a "burst" of visibility. Doing say 100 backlinks to good quality blogs and article directories will go a lot farther than a huge maelstrom. You will more than likely be "sandboxed" since Google may see you as "buying" influence.

Article marketing is one of my favorite ways to promote sites. There are tons of sites that offer free or inexpensive ways to post and submit your articles. They are even sites that will let other members choose to post your articles if it is relevant to there sites information. The key is to make sure your article is full of useful and interesting information. You want people to be drawn to your article so they will finish reading it. This way they will see your link at the bottom and be more likely to check out what else you have to say or what your site offers. You can also just add the articles to your existing social profile sites, one every week. This way you can "Ping" your RSS Feed every time you add a new article and it will help to improve your social sites ranking. If you decide to do this just make sure you check your account rules to make sure you can post a link in your article, some you can not but it is still good to add the article with out the link and "ping" your RSS Feed to show that your accounts are regularly active and will in turn also help your PR. You can even find other peoples sites that are semi related in subject to your site and then offer them a great article that would be an asset to there existing content. Just contact the site owner and offer them a great quality article on something they might need to discuss on there site and let them know that all you ask in return is to include a little link at the bottom of the article itself. Also tell them in return for adding your article to there site you will post a link for them on your site as well. Some site owners will appreciate your contribution so much and if your article is really intriguing they might even plug you to there existing traffic and it could do wonders for getting you site out there and again also help improve your sites exiting PR with increased traffic. With Article Marketing, a concept called Anchor texts comes into play. The idea is to use relevant word phrases as a link, which describes the content on the website the link goes to. I'm no expert, but if I'm NOT Mistaken this is perhaps the MOST powerful, effective technic to obtain a higher PageRanking (PR).
