Default Banner Ads

Has anyone used banner ads to bring traffic? Was it successful?

From my experience, if the banners are well-placed, they do bring good quality traffic.

I paid for someone to make my banner but it is paying off for me. I have got over 30,000 clicks from one website alone. He is actually very highly reguarded in the automotive industry and has had his work in Car Craft,Motor Trend,Hot Rod ect....

Well, webmasters said that contextual ads is much better and bring much more result than banner ads. But I experienced differently. I participate in a banner exchange program, so I place other participants' banners on my blog. And, according to the record, banners on my blog get more clicks than my own adsense ads LOL.

I used banner ads a long time ago but I noticed that the traffic quality kept getting worse.

Whether or not to use banner ads is extremely target market dependent.

If you are going after the heavily visually invested markets, banners attract click throughs like wildfire.

If your target market is more intellectually responsive, text ads will suffice as they will read your information before being drawn to pictures.

I know lots of webowners love those ads that pop up as you read text, but I have a sneaking suspicion these web owners have a vested in interest in the company providing those types of contextual ads. I feel this because most people hate having a smooth read interrupted with a pop up directing them to a particular product.

Banner ads can work in some cases. I know for example a destination specific site which offers banner ads to local businesses and they have an excellent return on investment as the visitors are highly targeted.

Banner ads work for most sites. The correct placement and nice banners would attract tons of visitors to the site. I think banner ads is one of the best method to increase the traffic efficiently when compared with the text ones.
