Default A Link is a Link

I know this will sound "CRAZY"...but I tend to believe "A link is a link is a link".

Sure, backlinks coming from sites with higher PageRanks, "PR", will carry more weight. But is kind of like the old joke, where the old man says he's going to trade in his 50yr old wife for two 25yr olds.

And if your backlinks are coming from sites of a like nature, then that adds to your "PR" also.

So why not attempt to get every link from all points possible.

Isn't MORE always better?

Yes Bobby, you are correct. A link is pretty much a link. When I run my linking campaigns I tend to not pay much attention to the sites page rank but more on how the site functions.

If a site shows good content and seems pretty legit, I will go for a link on that site. However, if there is little content, tons of backlinks and domain age is very new; I tend to stay away from them.

Google says that they do not penalize you for who links to your site but I choose to stay away from bad sites as much as I can. I also try to keep my incoming links at a consistent rate and not have sudden spikes while trying to keep a good variety of link types pointing to me. And yes more is better but do not go out link-farming or link exchanging to get them.

This is so not true. What you aim for is to build quality backlinks from sites that are reputable. The issue is falling for the game that many play by pushing the "dofollow" attribute. Usually, Google will sandbox the culprits are constantly pushing these "services".

Be wary, take your time and build slowly with "quality" over "quantity".

That's good information to know. I did not know that who you link to has importance. I think I've been doing a pretty good job with linking to decent websites and not wasting my time with the ones that look kind of fishy.
