If you write an article and submit that same article to 100 sites, all article directories all with links back to your site. If you then look at backlink checkers such as Yahoo and Google and others most of them do not show, so do they count for ranking? Also what about the whole Duplicate content issue with Google?

Whenever I've done article writing to multiple directories, I've always changed the titles and text. No two articles are ever exactly the same. Google does not like duplicate content. That's why "article spinners" exist. None of them I've used work very well, but that's what they're for...to ensure no duplicate content. It's that important.
As far as why the articles you submit aren't showing up, I will have to check on that and get back to you shortly. I do know that Google has their own system and you may not see the same backlinks when you search Yahoo. The number of backlinks will be different on both searches, usually more for Yahoo. Anyway, I'll find out on this and let you know. Cheers, dreXeL

Ok so the additional data I got is this:
The search engines tend to not index the article on the article directory sites (maybe 1/3rd or less of the article sites will show up). But the real benefit from article marketing comes from the sites that pick up the article from the directory and publish it on their site. Then you are getting quality, on-topic links from many different URLs. For that reason, you want to use really good titles, so that the article does get picked up and used. So there you go. Hope that helps. Cheers, dreXeL

Personally I only submit to the top article directories and I submit unique content to them. I've long hated duplicate content as it does nothing but clog up the internet, and that's the same way Google feels. So if you want quality links, only submit 100% unique content to the top tier article directories.
Plenty of people will disagree with me but it works for me - I also do submit to the random directories but I write one article and spin it to those ones. I keep that completely seperate from my quality articles that go to the top tier engines. You'll get some links that way, they won't be all that powerful but they are worth writing one article and spinning it. Top Directories: EzineArticles.com GoArticles.com Buzzle.com All I can think of right now. |

Randomizing the text Titles and descriptions will make the article more search-engine friendly. I have found this out first hand by randomizing using a plugin for wordpress.

I also like 100% unique content but there are ways to do this yourself by alternating spun sentences so you do not have to write 100 articles.
Also, as Erica pointed out, one of the best benefits of article marketing is when you use programs that post your articles for website owners. Then if your article is high quality website owners will use your articles and provide you with more effective back links as well as any of the regular visitors to your site. You can do several different types of article marketing as well. You can post social articles on your social account as well as the more general articles for directory submissions. It is good to use a spinning syntax or anchor text to spin your links to mix it up even more. This will improve the quantity and quality of your back links. |

Well I tend to disagree with what was said earlier. I don't think spinning the articles makes such a difference and I can tell you from experience that from all the article services I use, the only one that gets my articles on the first or second page of Google is the one that submits the same article to all directories. That said, since back links need to come from various sources in order to have weight in the eyes of Google, I alternate between spinned article and non-spinned article submission ...
