I have found that PayPal works quite well. I've never personally used GoDaddy's merchant to process payments. You should check out PayPal's pricing.

Hope that helps!

Paypal definitely. I have a free merchant account on there. They have some paid service too but I haven't needed it. It's totally secure and people without Paypal accounts can use their credit cards or echecks or whatever via the Paypal interface. Everything with Godaddy is more troublesome than it needs to be, including their user interface and the ridiculous quantity of offered products. "No I don't want hosting and the .net and .org versions, I just want to buy the domain!!!" So yeah, Paypal all the way.

I like the Paypal, but hate redirecting users to paypal's website, is there an option to do silent charge inside your own code and keep user on the website, similar to well known authorize.net?

I have been using paypal since 2005 as a payment portal for my web directory and have had no issues with them at all. Including large deposits from UK media firms. The conversion to US has been flawless.

I think Paypal is the best, people have been using this system for many years and they trust it.Even if you don't have a Paypal account you can use them to pay by Credit card anyway so that's cool.Using Paypal for a merchant account is not a must but it is recommended.

Depending on where you life, you could try to contact a local bank to see if you can apply for a merchant account. The rates that you get will normally be better then what Paypal charges.

If you want to handle the payment process yourself, you need to have website with maximum security, because you will deal with credit card details etc. Maybe you will have to use a dedicated server to host your website. Using PayPal, you can let them take all the trouble and you can concentrate on built and promote your website. Just IMO.

I think PayPal is the best one in the market currently. Further I don't think they don't have much of a fee structure and they are much reliable in most cases. If you are not thinking of violating PayPal TOS, then I don't think there is no problem in going for paypal.
