Exclamation Let's All Build a Website Together!

In last Tuesday's show, someone asked Bill to show an example site. Bill, quite understandably, didn't want to risk someone stealing his niche.

So, I thought maybe this forum group could develop a site from scratch as a learning tool / exercise. We would build the group project based on Bill's teachings, and Bill could give his feedback and use it when he needs an example site.

We could pick a random affiliate product. Or, I have a digital download album we could use for this group exercise. I don't care about selling this product, the main thing is to learn. I would be willing to donate whatever profits we get during the exercise to charity. The product is already for sale on Amazon and iTunes, so we can use it as both an affiliate product example, and an example for selling digital download products (ebooks, video courses, podcasts, music, apps, etc). It's Relaxation / Spa type music, so it's a niche product.

You can check it out on iTunes here...
Dream Music

Or, we can brainstorm another product. If you check "brainstorm another product" in the poll above, please provide some suggestions for other products we could use.

Thoughts?

PeteNY

Potential issue with your idea -

What if it becomes too successful?

Hi Artemis,

Not sure what you mean by "too" successful. Too successful with us all learning too much, or raising too much money for a charity? Or am I missing your point? Please clarify.

Thanks,
PeteNY

I like this idea of building a case study site.

I think if we do build a site together we should include picking a niche or product as part of the case study. We'd just start off with a blank slate and decide on a profitable niche and build out an entire site from scratch.

I also like the idea of donating to charity the income from the site.

My biggest concern would be having each person stay committed and following through on their part. If somone failed to do their part of the marketing project it could hold everyone else up.

So we'd have to break the tasks up and only assign them to people who would follow through and not drop the ball.

I'd have a lot of fun helping with something like this.

Great, I'm excited that Bill is into the idea of us building a site for us all to learn!

Question 1...
What is our niche market or product?
Where do you find your initial idea for a market or product?
Do you start with a niche product then evaluate the market?
Or, do you find a ripe niche market then find a product?

Question 2...
What is our charity?
I just lost my Dad to cancer. He was diagnosed in February 2008 and passed away a month later in March. I know one of our members "So Cool Bob" has also told us he is battling cancer. So, I'd suggest that we donate to a cancer charity.

What are your suggestions for finding a market/product?

What are your suggestions for a specific charity?

I think this is an awesome Idea!! I think all of the ideas and process map be kept in it's own folder to allow everyone to use it later as a template for building an online business. Regarding the charity I too lost my father to cancer in December and would like it to goto that disease. This would clearly tie everyone in our "inner circle" community to a common cause while learning to build a business. There are some definite logistical issues regarding creating a not for profit business. Unless the product payment goes directly to the charity. Looking forward to what everyone decides.

I would be interested in contributing but not sure how I might fit in... beginner status.

This is a great idea and totally agree with donating to charity. I would be up for donating my time as long as we keep a record of what everyone is doing somehow.

Digital products would be great but I agree with Bill about choosing a niche most of us could work with. I'm open to any topics / products, who has some suggestions?

I also agree that this is a good idea. Each person doing a step can document in the forum exactly how they do it, and a step by step of what exactly they did. Another thing we can do to document it to have each person do a screen recording with something like Camtasia. (I believe they still have a free 30 day trial, so there wouldn't be out of pocket costs for those who don't have something already)

I also like the idea of donating to a cancer research charity. I have lost an aunt and an uncle to cancer and would love to see a cure found.

I would like to be apart of this but not sure how. I am seriously BRAND new to this and I would love to see a case study so that I can learn how to be successful with my site. Please let me know.
Charity - Cancer -all types or St. Jude Childrens Hospital. I lost my sister many years ago to cancer.
