Default Facebook Guys ...IT Works

Hey Guys,
thought I'd give Facebook a bit of dabble in using my name as the test.

On Facebook you have the option to public list yourself in a search engine, and i'm sure you'll agree that if you type your name into Google its a good thing if you and only you comes first. You can test with mine.

Kirk James-Williams

The beauty of this is, a Facebook vcard comes up with a selection of your friends (which you can choose to opt out of ) and a list of all your fan pages and websites that you are a fan of, my recommendation is that you create a fan page for your own website also on Facebook so it appears on everyones profile listing , if they become a fan, A really easy and quick way to get some extra traffic

regards kirk

Just a tip: It is always good to add "Notes" to your FaceBook profile. Make sure to spice it up with a nice picture or 3 as well. Make sure the "Notes" vary to not only plug your site/niche but also to give family or business updates. This will personalize it and make it look like a very efficient social page. You will want to always be updating the "Notes" section to keep your PR up. Another tip is to add all of your friends and post comments on there pages regularly, like how's it going or check this out or I heard, ect. Then occasionally post comments to plug your site/business. It is also good to add videos in your comments to draw peoples attention to your profile. This combined with Kirk's tips is a great start for an awesome FaceBook page! Good Luck!!!

The best way to utilize facebook is to actually use it for what it was intended, as a way to get and stay in touch with friends, family and/or people with similar interests. If you're offering a product or service it should be a secondary purpose to the purpose of "Social Network". In my opinion, you make friends, get to know people with similar interests, and then create a fan page or a group for your product or service and invite all your friends to join it. Then you can promote it via messages that go to all your fanbase at once via the fan page or group page. And since they're already fans of whatever it is you're promoting, they won't consider it spam when you promote it to them. They're fans of it, after all. They willingly joined it. If you have the idea "I'm going to make money with this facebook thing and pretend I'm their friend and promote my stuff to them" people will sense this, and they won't like it. I can ALWAYS tell when people are doing that. It comes off as phony, because it is. If you have a good product or service, this should be an easy thing to accomplish. Money is just the exchange you get for producing something of value. So make sure you have THAT. And if you don't even have a product in mind yet, don't worry about it. Just make friends with people who have similar interests to yours. Whenever you DO figure out your product and your niche, promoting to people who are already your friends will make it that much easier. Maybe a lot of people in the marketing industry would disagree with what I'm saying, but as a person who has been using social networks for over 10 years, I do know a little bit about it. And I have gotten a lot of sales, exhibitions and other important contacts as a result of it. It's just a slower process than something like adwords, where people are searching something specific and already prepared to buy, see your link, buy something, BAM. It's more like going to a networking conference and handing out business cards and making new contacts. You wouldn't just go up to a stranger, force him to have 19 of your business cards, get his phone number and call him every day. He'd think you were nuts. So it's a numbers game, and the more conferences you go to, and the more business cards you hand out, and the more contacts you make, the more you generate interest and people buy things from you. So join all the social networks, make lots of friends, get to know them for REAL, have an excellent product to promote, create a fan page or group for your product and promote it.

Facebook is really one of the most popular social networking sites today so it's not a surprise why Google recognize the members of this site. Facebook is really a good tool in marketing.

Our online tech support company uses facebook too. We tied it in with our blog so that when we post, it also posts on our facebook fan page as well as twitter, and other sites. This is the automated approach, but it works well. You'll want to be a little more personal in some aspects though. Our fan page is www.facebook.com/mytechteam
