Hi guys. SEO job is quite easy once you know how to do it. The market is big and you can work from home, but the competition is getting bigger. So do you prefer to working full time as a SEO expert, or you just do it in your spare time?

I have been in the SEO business for nearly a decade and it is getting harder. More and more people are offering their services and the prices being paid are dropping rapidly.

Although SEO job is quite easy for the talented ones, I think I won't get into it as a full timer. I had better be a SEO user instead of SEO provider.

Actually the basic seo work is rather easy such as finding links for example however the "real" seo work which can help sites rank first for big keywords is very difficult.

I haven't seen any decent pay being offered in the SEO area for quite sometime, now.

I can see it for people who do it only part time and don't need to make too much money per client, but since most site owners can do their SEO with Firefox add-ons, need for "specialists" will continue to shrink, IMHO.

Many website owners have no clue about SEO or simply do not want to deal with it.

PT or FT? Part time, unless you are in SEO business for a long time and have some clients and referrals.

If you're talking about working as an SEO consultant: I'd guess it depends on how well you can market & sell your own services.

If you're good at getting clients: why wouldn't you do it full time?

I think it's pretty much like any other business: It's wide open for people who know how to market and sell themselves.

I agree with Bill;

There's a difference -

You can SEO for yourself and your sites which can be very competitive especially for big keywords... unless you find a niche that you can dominate.

OR

SEO as a consultant for local businesses which isn't as hard as the first.

Hope this helps,

In my part, since we have clients, I do SEO as my full time job. For us to meet the clients requirements.
