I moderate a couple social media groups one of which is a marketing group on facebook. I have built it to 230 members. There are some big named marketers on the group and others I know are wanting to learn about marketing.
When I started the group I realized that the emails were too long so I reactivated and old blog and started using it to make longer posts. This also allowed me to track how many of the members were actually visiting the blog from the emails I sent which were merely teasers to get them to click on the trackable link.
The numbers were disappointing, 5, 6 think the most was 8. I am a bit discouraged about the results and have not been very active with the group since I realized that most are on there not to learn but just to be there. I interact with a few of them but cannot get any real responses from the group.
Tried doing a survey but got very little response and I am thinking that it may be best to disband the entire group. The silence in the group deafens me.
My question to you is what do u think I could do to engineer participation by the members?
The link to that FB group is
Memorable Web Addresses for Profile, Page or Group on Facebook
