tweetmanager direct message problem

I was reading twitter's API and came across this message about sending direct messages.

how does this affect TM's ability to send 1000 total messages per day? If you can only send 100 per hour, will TM then pick up, in hour 2, where it left off in hour 1?

I assumed that when you entered your message to send to followers that it would send 1000 total at 1 time then you would have to wait 24 hours, it looks as if that's not the case. I'm confused.

"Clients are allowed 100 requests per 60 sixty minute time period, starting from their first request. The rate limited is applied to both authenticated and unauthenticated requests. Unauthenticated requests are rate limited by IP, and authenticated requests are tracked by the requesting user ID. POST requests (ex: updating status, sending a direct message) do not count against the rate limit, but some actions may have caps on them to prevent abuse."

TweetManager is "white listed" with Twitter and has a slightly different set of rules for api usage than a regular users.

I have some things in the works that change how the direct message features work. It will no longer try to send 1,000 messages in a row. It will do something more sophisticated & will also be monitoring direct message volume of every TweetManager user by the hour.

My goal is to have a great free service for everyone, but not to let a few free users clog up our connection with Twitter.

I'll also be releasing some "premium" features that will let you send a direct message to more than 1,000 users. It will just spread the message volume out over whatever current volume Twitter is letting us use.

Hi Bill,

the new updates sound like they might be what I need as I don't want to send out all of my DM's at once and not be able to DM for 24 hours.

roughly how far off are these new "updates" you mention?

We're shooting a series of videos for my blog to drive my twitter followers to and will be doin alot of direct messaging.
