Default Twitter's Position?

I've only started hearing about Twitter in the last few weeks, but it seems very popular to me.

How would you say that it ranks with similar sites?

This site seems to be different than most other social networking sites, although you can use this site to your advantage. You can use it the same way you use other social sites, it just doesn't have as many options. You can start by finding people who share your interests and then engaging them in conversations by asking questions. This will get the ball rolling into getting a following. Another great way to jump start your Twitter account is to repost or "retweet" (as they call it) other people interesting blogs. In most cases it will get the person of the blogs you are reposting following and or talking to you. Also you can post links to your sites for people who are interested, just like any other social site. Just make sure to build up a decent following before you just start plugging your self or your product. You don't want to lose followers by being just the "sales person", take a little time and make some interesting contributions to the ongoing conversations to grab peoples interests. There are several other tricks into using this program to its fullest but I hope I was able to shed some light on jump starting your Twitter account. One of the neat things is that you can follow anyone with out having to wait for acceptance from that person which makes it even faster to gain followers. Personally I think there are so many more sites that are way better but it can't hurt to have as many accounts as you can, right?

twitter is the future. there are many sites that show you what's going on with twitter globally with statistics etc. it's not a social network with voluminous features. you post a message to the twitterverse in 140 characters or less, or you can send private messages. you can search to see what people are talking about currently, or you can do a keyword search and find people interested in what you're interested it. it's simple and very, very powerful. what's funny is that I've been around twitter since 10/07 and really paid no attention to it. When the masses started using it and it became more easy to use, I finally got in on it good and have become a frequent user of the service.

Twitter is growing very rapidly and its going to be one of the few big things in 2009. The only thing lacking in twitter is a proper business model.
