Default Is it worth $3.95 a month?

I came across a web hosting site offering this services for $3.95 a month:
- 3000 MB of storage space
- 30 GB of monthly bandwidth
- free set up
- cpanel with Fantastico
- unlimited email address
- PHP5/perl/Ruby

What do you think? Is that a great deal? The site also guarantee 99.9% uptime. Do you know other web hosting offering a better deal?

well i mean...it sounds good, but i've dealt with some cheap hosting sites that don't do ANYTHING for you and they're in other countries and you pretty much have to know how to set up your own server using shell access. that was nuts. personally my favorite is bluehost.com. they're cheap, they're ALWAYS there, you can call them, they help you. for my personal stuff it's the only company i'll use and i've been with them for YEARS.

oh also i don't know if they still offer it, but i think they do. and if you get your domains through blue host they're like free for life or something. and even if you don't, they send you alerts no matter where your domains are, letting you know when it's time to renew them so that your hosting doesn't stop working. they really are awesome.

yeah, 1and1 is also $4 a month, but your site doesn't run as fast as going with something a little more expensive.

Hosting : Web Hosting : 1&1 Internet Inc.

You really don't know until you find reviews of people that have used that service.

I think that is an reasonable amount, you can go for it. However check the company's profile in various hosting ranking sites and make sure that they have a very good reputation and have a good client base.

$3.95 is good. But like one of the previous posters said, be prepared to have a slow loading site because you will be pretty much sharing a server with who knows how many other domains.

I would be a little weary with a small company like that. After everything is setup you could find out it's not what you expected. Then have to do it all again. You know the saying "you get what you pay for"
I would go with a company that has proven itself before.

Check out my new thread... It may give you some other ideas about looking around a bit and what to ask and a clearer picture of what you might need.

Picking a host.

Cheers,

That sounds like a perfectly reasonable price to me. I think too many people go for the big hosts like bluehost, hostgator, 1&1 etc without realising that you will usually get much better support, speed and plans going with a smaller host. This isn't me trying to sell my hosting either

geekstorage.com
igxhost.com
innohosting.com

would certainly provide more personal support than the bigger hosts. Either way any host should be fine, just don’t go with GoDaddy because there support is terrible.
