It all depends on what the goal or purpose of your site is.
If the purpose of the site is to make money from the ads: Then having inline text ads makes total sense. If the main purpose of the site is to get people to buy your products: Then don't have any ads that distract from that purpose.

I had used adsense , adbrite and clicksor. Adsense is the best and the second best is adbrite. In adbrite we have to choose the full sorts of ads in order to earn more. The other adplacement sites include bidvertiser, adversal, bannerconnect etc.
