Default Directory submission

I have heard that yahoo is working based on the directory submission. So if i want to submit my blog to yahoo search engine, what is the procedure? And how effective will it be and its advantages? Because often i have heard that sites performing well in google will not perform well in yahoo search engine. Is this a myth?

Submitting to yahoo and DMOZ do not include guaranteed submission approval. The best thing to do is gradually build your link visibility manually. $300 to yahoo for a non-guarantee is very steep.

Yikes. $300 for a non-guarantee? That is really steep. I would submit to your basic free directories to start and then give it a bit to take effect before I started looking into paid directory submission.

Wow, why does it cost so much money to submit a website to Yahoo? I think it's better to spend the money in PPC programs like Adwords. It's will guarantee traffic to our website. Moreover, using Adword, our websites will get free exposure on thousand of other websites.

The reason why it is still so expensive is basically because Yahoo used to be the largest search engine in the world and their Yahoo directory was very popular at one point so Yahoo decided to make money of their directory.

saracriss, is correct. My own directory has been around since 2006 and I personally include sites that have value.
Granted, I do support my site with Google adsense and other promotions. But this helps me to offset the cost of hosting and stemming the tide of spammy "free" submitters from countries like India and Pakistan.
